In beautiful friendship, we weave the colors of life.
Part of an excerpt in ''Lagom Lady, 7 aspects of balanced life I learned from Swedish women''.
''... This is not a book about Lagom written by a Swede. Instead, it is a book about Lagom written by a Vietnamese woman who has lived in Sweden for nearly 5 years. Her intention is to dedicate this book to Vietnamese women, regardless of where they reside in the world, with the aspiration of nurturing within them the qualities of a true 'Lady' and embracing a lifestyle of 'Knowing enough'.''
Lynh Miêu, writer, author and founder Bloom Books.
''... This book doesn't provide an instant solution for living a more balanced or happier life. However, it has the potential to reprogram minds and instill new perspectives... women could be empowered to wholeheartedly affirm their self-worth in their careers, finances, and find satisfaction in other vital aspects of life simultaneously...''
Linh Phan, author, coach and solopreneur.
''... There are numerous lifestyle books for women, but this particular book stands out to me. I deeply appreciate Uyen's perspective as a mature woman, skillfully observing and summarizing subtle lessons about lifestyle and the behavior of women... we will begin to perceive the world around us more gently and find greater happiness in our everyday life...''

You might have read about my dream of being an author in previous article. Now, let me share with you an event that had a profound impact on me and inspired me to become the author of my first book, ''Lagom Lady, 7 aspects of balanced life I learned from Swedish women''.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
I belong to the 80s generation, born and raised in Saigon. After graduating from university, my siblings and I sought scholarships abroad to pursue higher education. In 2013, I completed a Master's program in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management at the University of Paris Créteil in France. This opened up opportunities for me to work in various management positions, such as at the Ho Chi Minh City National University, the High-Tech Business Incubator, and the Olmix Group in Asia.
The fast-paced life with constant movement in my career became familiar to me. I was drawn to the vibrant, noisy, and dramatic culture that resembled my youthful spirit. I was unaware and didn't truly care about the concept of 'just enough.' Among my international friends, I enthusiastically spoke about the freedom in the United States, the liveliness of Paris, the warmth of Vietnam, and the nonchalant approach to things. Yet, I found myself complaining about piles of clothes, bags, shoes at home, overflowing trash outside, unstable real estate policies, and lacking social welfare systems.
And the past 10 years of my life were exactly as Maria Shriver described in her book ‘'Ten Things I wish I’d known before I went out into the real world''.
Women's emotions are like waves, reaching a state of balance only after hitting rock bottom.
Maria Shriver, Ten Things I wish I’d known before I went out into the real world.
I reached the bottom of life after the breakdown of my first marriage, experiencing financial and emotional emptiness. I made the decision to bring my son to live in Sweden and embark on a new journey.
Living with the locals, eating local food, and immersing myself in the local culture for over three years helped shape my new perspectives on life. It was a life with experiences that didn't entirely match what I had read about this happy nation. The difficulties and losses during the Covid period, culminating in the departure of my close friend in November 2022, awakened a mission within me. I needed to do something to make a positive impact on the lives of women in my homeland, the Vietnamese women possess wonderful qualities, just like my best friend, Ho Thanh Thuy.
And thus, the book 'Lagom Lady, 7 aspects of balanced life I learned from Swedish women' was born, as a gift dedicated to Thuy, my friend of over 20 years.
This book is a journey of approaching, changing the mindset, and habits of a Southeast Asian woman, with an open and multifaceted perspective, based on real-life experiences that are not overly beautiful or happy, nor overly negative, but ''just enough''.
I hope you discover a part of yourself in this book.
